Volunteer Today for 2027 Doctor of the Day Program

The Arkansas Medical Society will sponsor the Doctor of the Day program for the 2027 Legislative Session. AMS members have provided this important service for more than 50 years. The session begins on Monday, January 11, 2027, and will continue for 60 days, but the Legislature usually votes to extend.

Physician volunteers are needed Monday–Thursday of each week during the session. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As patient needs and the legislative schedule allow, participants attend committee meetings, meet legislators, and are introduced in the House and Senate. If you are willing to host a medical student or resident on your service date, please indicate so on the registration form below.

Medical care is focused on needs that arise while people are at the Capitol and the infirmary has basic exam equipment for minor medical problems. AMS coordinates with the Arkansas Department of Health to provide nursing coverage when the infirmary is open so continuity of care is provided.

A parking pass will be sent one week prior to the designated date of service. Please provide your cell number on the form for quick notification of changes in the daily schedule. The Society will not share the number.
