The Arkansas Medical Society will sponsor the “Doctor of the Day” program for the 2021 session of the Arkansas legislature. The session convenes on January 11, 2021, and will continue for 60 days. The time can be extended by action of the legislature. This is your chance to help take care of those at the Capitol, visit with your state legislators as well as represent your physician colleagues.
This is a unique opportunity for AMS members. Legislators truly appreciate physicians who take a day out of their busy practice to volunteer their services at the Capitol Infirmary. Listed below are open dates in the “Doctor of the Day” schedule. If Friday is your day of preference, please remember that many Fridays are canceled with little notice when the legislature votes to recess on Thursday afternoon.
In this unprecedented time, the “Doctor of the Day” program may be a little different than in the past. Previously, the doctor of the day attended legislative committee meetings and had floor privileges in the House and Senate, but those activities may be restricted for the 2021 session. You should plan to be at the Capitol Infirmary from approximately 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
