Doctor of the Day Registration

The Arkansas Medical Society will once again sponsor the “Doctor of the Day” program for the 2023 session of the Arkansas legislature. The session begins on January 9, 2023, and will continue for 60 days, but the time can be extended by action of the legislature.
This important service has been provided by AMS members for over four decades, and the Doctor of the Day program has enhanced the effectiveness of the Society’s efforts at the Capitol.
Physician volunteers are needed Monday through Friday. Please remember that Fridays may be canceled with little notice when the legislature votes to recess on Thursday afternoon. Please provide your cell phone number on the form below for quick notification. The number will not be shared.
Doctors of the Day are asked to arrive at the H. Elvin Shuffield Capitol Infirmary at 9:00 a.m., and the infirmary usually closes around 3:30 p.m. The physician volunteers can attend legislative committee meetings and they have floor privileges in both chambers for introductions during their date of service. AMS coordinates with the Arkansas Department of Health to provide nursing coverage when the infirmary is open. A parking pass will be sent one week prior to the date of service.
