The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently clarified specifics related to the increased Medicaid payment eligibility for primary care physicians, including information about certain subspecialties that may also qualify.

Funding has been released to provide a two-year increase in Medicaid payment rates for certain primary care and immunization services as part of the new federal health care law.  AMS has been meeting with DHS to amend the federal court Consent Decree to allow the increased reimbursements. DHS intends to implement by making supplemental payments on a quarterly basis, but AMS may push for a monthly frequency.

CMS has released information about which subspecialists may qualify under the new rules and how physicians may attest.  This link provides more specifics about this program.
