The AMS PPE Road Show began Tuesday, April 21 with AMS staff making stops in Warren and Arkadelphia. The next day, trucks spread out across the state and made stops in Alma, Springdale, Mountain Home, Jonesboro, and Little Rock. Supplies of gowns and gloves were allocated based on the counties and/or cities with existing or growing COVID-19 cases.
In March, Governor Asa Hutchinson allocated $75 million dollars for the purchase of PPE and ventilators for health care professionals and first responders treating COVID-19, and AMS was instrumental in securing a portion of these purchases for medical clinics, who are on the front lines of this pandemic.
It was so good to see several physicians and office staff in person and hear how they are doing in the middle of this crisis. Our main mission will always be to help physicians and their medical teams, and that is even more so in this time of crisis. Know that the Arkansas Medical Society will continue to fight for you and your patients. Follow us on social media for future #PPEroadshow developments as they become available.
