Legislative Update, 2-3-23
TOP PRIORITY: PRIOR AUTHORIZATION
Sponsors Rep. Lee Johnson, MD (Greenwood) & Sen. Missy Irvin (Mountain View)
Both Prior Authorization “Gold Card” bills have been assigned to Insurance and Commerce committees and are awaiting Fiscal Impact statements.
If passed, this legislation would:
- Remove ALL prior authorization requirements from January 1, 2024, through June 30, 2024.
- Give “Gold Cards” based on specific CPT codes and includes prescriptions.
- Continue prior authorization exemption for 12 months for each medical service scored at 90% or above for those first six months of 2024.
- Not apply to Medicare or ERISA plans.
WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW
