AFMC Partners with Aledade – An Independent Physician Focused ACO
The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) and Aledade, an accountable care organization led by the former head of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, have announced plans to work together in establishing an ACO consisting of independent family physicians from around the state. The ACO will be led by a 12-member board consisting of nine physicians, a physical therapist and two managers from Aledade. AFMC will administer the program, and has worked closely with Aledade executives previously when they assisted in the set-up of electronic medical records for 1,600 Arkansas physicians.
They are looking for 30 to 50 physicians to join the ACO. These physicians will be provided the necessary data to make more informed Medicare referrals. As with other ACOs, savings achieved in this endeavor will be shared with the member-physicians.
