HB 1251 Passes Out of Committee: Call Your Senator TODAY!
Despite powerful testimony from Charlotte Allison, a patient whose eyes were permanently damaged by a laser used by an optometrist, the Senate Public Health Committee voted 5 to 2 in favor of passing the Optometrists Eye Surgery Bill onto the full Senate. The following Senators voted for the bill:
- Senator Scott Flippo (Bull Shoals)
- Senator Kim Hammer (Benton)
- Senator Bart Hester (Cave Springs)
- Senator Jimmy Hickey (Texarkana)
- Senator David Wallace (Leachville)
It could be heard TOMORROW, so we need you to CALL YOUR SENATOR and ask them to vote NO on HB 1251 because it poses a risk to patient safety. You can leave messages for your Senator by calling the switchboard for the Senate at (501) 682-2902. Be sure you mention the House Bill number (1251), tell them who you are are why you’re opposed to the bill, and keep it brief and concise.
