House approves bill that includes $1.1 billion for Zika
(AMA Mourning Rounds, 6-23-16)
The AP (6/23, Taylor) reports the House has approved “a $1.1 billion House-Senate measure to combat the Zika virus, but the GOP-drafted measure is a nonstarter with Senate Democrats and the Obama White House.”
USA Today (6/22, Kelly) reports that “Democrats vowed to derail the legislation in the Senate because it includes $750 million in budget cuts to other health care programs.”
The Washington Post (6/22, Snell) reports, “The spending would be paid for with about $750 million in savings, including $107 million in unused Ebola funds, $100 million in cuts to administrative funding for the Department Health and Human Services and $534 million from unspent Obamacare money for health care exchanges in U.S. territories.”
