Webinar: Keeping Current with Employee Classifications

February 19, 2014, Noon – 1 p.m. | REGISTER

On July 18, 2013, the Senate confirmed Thomas Perez as the new Secretary of the Department of Labor. Perez is believed to be “tough on enforcement” and penalties. Therefore, employers can expect the Department of Labor (DOL) to initiate more investigative activity in the areas of wage and hour.

Based on our assumption of the goals of the DOL, it is prudent for employers to review their compliance in this area. Specifically, employers should evaluate their classification of employees to ensure compliance with the laws found in the FLSA. Objectives:Understanding the requirements/provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that impact your practice; Learning how to properly determine proper classification of exempt versus non-exempt employees; and Determining what does and does not go in the employee HR records.

The speaker will be Kathy R. White, FACMPE, Senior Medical Practice Consultant – State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company. Registration is $129 AMS Member/Staff (per location).
