- Tort Reform Amendment – The Board authorized spending up to $250,000 in support of a constitutional amendment that would (a) limit plaintiff attorney fees, and (b) place a cap of no less than $250,000 per defendant on non-economic damages. The amendment is currently under review by the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office to determine if enough signatures were gathered to certify it for the ballot. Watch for more information.
- Medical Cannabis – There are two ballot issues related to authorization of medical cannabis. The Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act is an initiated act that has already been certified for the November ballot. The other issue, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment turned in enough valid signatures to buy extra time to gather the number required to make the ballot. The AMS Board has voted to oppose both ballot issues.
- Student Loan Consolidation – The Board approved the endorsement of LendKey, a student loan refinancing program that will provide a $500 award to AMS members who utilize the program.
- Sales Rep Scheduling Application – The Board also approved the endorsement of Clinicpass, a FREE program for clinics that can be utilized for scheduling pharmaceutical and medical device reps. Rather than taking clinic staff away from their duties to assist a rep who wants to bring lunch to the clinic, the rep is instructed to go online to Clinicpass and make all the arrangements. Expenditures are also tracked. More information will be available soon.
